By going soul winning, we are fulfilling part of the Great Commission and helping keep people out of Hell. That should be reason enough to go, but we all have times when we don’t feel like going. Considering some of the following benefits might help get you motivated to go soul winning:

Friendship

One of the factors that keeps people in a church for the long haul is friendship. It is important to have Christian friends, which is one of the reasons you need to be part of a local church. There is a certain camaraderie that develops from the shared experience of laboring together in the gospel.

“Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend.” Proverbs 27:17

“And I intreat thee also, true yokefellow, help those women which laboured with me in the gospel, with Clement also, and with other my fellowlabourers, whose names are in the book of life.” Philippians 4:3

“Two are better than one; because they have a good reward for their labour. For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow: but woe to him that is alone when he falleth; for he hath not another to help him up. Again, if two lie together, then they have heat: but how can one be warm alone? And if one prevail against him, two shall withstand him; and a threefold cord is not quickly broken.” Ecclesiastes 4:9-12

Exercise

A lot of people today don’t get enough sunshine or exercise. Soul winning is a great way to get some walking in while doing something for the Lord.

“For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.” 1 Timothy 4:8

Learning the Bible

Whenever you teach something to someone else, you learn in the process. One of the most important benefits of soul winning is that it will help you learn the Bible better as you constantly expound it to others.

“For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat. For every one that useth milk is unskilful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe. But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.” Hebrews 5:12-14
